The annual licence fee (plus any penalties) may also apply on top of the fee above. No licence fee is charged if it's already up to date; a pro-rated fee applies if it's still valid; and if it's expired, monthly fees and penalties apply, plus the new annual fee. All licensing fees must be paid in full before a vehicle can be dealerstocked.

Directly from the company

Govt + RenewGP: R728

If the vehicle is already registered in the company's own name and there's no change of ownership taking place, the previous-owner paperwork and NCO fall away — only the vehicle and company details are needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is a motor dealer?

The National Road Traffic Act defines a motor dealer as any person or business engaged in buying, selling or repairing vehicles, or building permanent structures onto them.

What does a dealerstock application cost?

R728 (the government dealerstock fee and RenewGP's fee combined). The annual licence fee, plus any penalties, may also apply on top. It takes about 4 days.

Do licence fees have to be paid first?

Yes. All licensing fees must be paid in full before a vehicle can be dealerstocked. No licence fee is charged if it's already up to date; a pro-rated fee applies if it's still valid; and if it has expired, monthly fees and penalties apply, plus the new annual fee.

Which option applies to me?

'From private ownership to the company' is a change of ownership (NCO and RLV forms). 'Directly from the company' applies when the vehicle is already in the company's name, so only the RLV form is needed.
