Estimate your license disc renewal cost

Pick your vehicle's weight bracket and licence expiry date for an estimate of the government fees, based on the current Gauteng tariff schedule. This is a guide, not an official quote.

Match this to the tare weight on your registration certificate (RC1) or eNaTIS printout.
Use the expiry date printed on your disc, even if it hasn't expired yet.

How do I calculate my vehicle licence disc renewal cost?

Your renewal cost is made up of a few parts. First, the annual licence fee, which Gauteng sets based on your vehicle's tare (empty) weight — heavier vehicles pay more. Second, a flat R72 RTMC transaction fee, which applies no matter where you renew. If your licence has been expired for more than 21 days, arrears and a late penalty are added on top, calculated from your expiry date. You can get an instant estimate using the calculator above — just select your vehicle's weight bracket and expiry date.

Frequently asked questions

How do I renew my vehicle licence (license) disc in Boksburg?

Send us your documents on WhatsApp or bring them to Shop 4, 11 Finch St, Atlasville. We queue at the licensing department for you, and you collect once it's ready — usually within 1–4 days.

How much does a licence disc renewal cost?

The government part is your annual licence fee (set by your vehicle's weight) plus a R72 licensing admin fee, plus arrears and penalties if the disc has expired. RenewGP's service fee is R180. The estimate calculator on this page gives you a quick figure — it's an estimate, not an official quote.

What happens if my licence disc has expired?

You get a 21-day grace period after your licence falls due (from the 1st of the month after the expiry date). After that, a late penalty of 10% of the annual fee is added for every month or part of a month, and the penalty can't be more than the total fees due. If you pay in a later month, arrears are added too: 1/12 of the annual fee for each month from the month your licence fell due up to the month before you pay. The calculator on this page shows an estimate.

Can I renew my licence disc before it expires?

Yes, but eNaTIS only issues a licence up to about 12 months from the month you pay, so if your disc still has months left you only pay a pro-rated fee for the extra months. For example, on a R456 annual fee, a disc valid to 30 June 2027 and renewed in November 2026 adds 4 months (to 31 October 2027) for R152, plus the R72 transaction fee.

Can you renew the licence disc on a company vehicle?

Yes. Business renewals need a copy of the previous licence disc, the company proxy's ID document and the BRN certificate. See the Business renewal checklist above.
